Acute Care

Your hospital care

We want your hospital stay to be as comfortable, safe, and supportive as possible.

Family-centered care

Klickitat Valley Health truly focuses on the family, emphasizing patient and family involvement in everything we do. We are supportive of family members participating in your care, if you desire. Their increased awareness of your need for rest, support and encouragement to exercise, and their willingness to help with daily activities and responsibilities will be a great benefit. Your nurse will help your family gain the skills and confidence necessary to help with your recovery.

Your physicians

While you’re in the hospital, your care may be coordinated by a “hospitalist,” a specialist in the field of internal medicine who cares only for hospitalized patients. While your KVH hospitalist is caring for you, they have no outside clinic obligations and devote their full attention to your hospital care. Hospitalists communicate regularly with your primary care doctor about your condition, along with any specialists you might need.

Nursing Care

Klickitat Valley Health’s nursing staff plays a key role in your care at the hospital. KVH nursing staff are primarily registered nurses who are supported by licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants. They assess your needs and encourage you to become an active participant in your plan of care. Feel free to ask the nurses questions regarding your care while you are hospitalized.

For your protection

We encourage our patients to be proactive in their own care. We expect all caregivers who have physical contact with their patients to wash their hands before and after contact.

Interpreter Services

KVH has access to interpreters for nearly 200 languages. If you feel more comfortable in a non-English language, we may be able to provide an interpreter. Please notify the staff person when making your appointment or when your arrive. The service is free.
