Community Engagement

Our Commitment to Healthy Living

Klickitat Valley Health has served Klickitat County since 1946. As a local critical access hospital, we believe caring for our community goes beyond hospital and clinic walls.

Through community engagement, we work alongside our neighbors to empower healthy living, improve access to care, and support well-being at every stage of life. Our efforts are grounded in listening, partnership, and a shared commitment to a healthier community.

Community Engagement Programs

Our community engagement programs are designed to meet people where they are and support prevention, education, and early care.

Health Education

We incorporate health education into community events throughout the year, including:

  • In February, We Go Red with Art for the Health on National Wear Red Day to raise awareness of women’s heart health
  • In June, We Go Blue with a fish taco feed on National Wear Blue Day to promote men’s health
  • During the month of October, We Go Pink to support breast cancer awareness
  • Our annual Kindergarten Day, which gives young children the opportunity to tour the hospital and learn about injury prevention

In the Community

We value being visible and approachable in the places our community gathers. You can find our friendly staff at local events such as:

  • Klickitat County Fair
  • Community Days
  • Harvest Fest

Community Health Needs Assessment

KVH offers several opportunities to help make preventive care more affordable for individuals and families. These programs support early detection and empower healthy living, and may include:

  • Year-round direct-pay lab and wellness services
  • Free high school sports physical day
  • Immunization days hosted at local businesses

Everyday WellnessUnderstanding community needs helps us serve you better. In 2025, KVH worked with the Klickitat County Department of Health and Skyline Hospital to complete the Klickitat County Community Health Assessment. This work will guide the development of an updated Community Health Improvement Plan. The assessment looks at health data alongside social and economic factors to identify priorities such as:

  • Mental health and substance use
  • Access to primary care
  • Chronic disease prevention
  • Healthy aging
  • Transportation, housing, and food access
