Preparing for Admission

Your Stay at KVH

Thank you for trusting Klickitat Valley Health with your care. Our team lives and works in Klickitat County, and we are honored to care for our neighbors. From the moment you arrive, we focus on comfort, respect, and clear communication, so you can focus on healing close to home.

A hospital stay can bring many questions. Our caring staff is here to guide you through each step with patience and clarity. We work together with you and your family to provide care that reflects your needs, values, and goals. We believe good care starts with listening. Please tell us what matters to you, and let us know how we can support you during your stay.

Before You Arrive

Preparing ahead of time can make your admission smoother. Bringing the right items helps our care team serve you well and keeps your stay more comfortable.

What to Bring

Please bring the items below to support your care and admission process:

  • Your health insurance plan card.
  • Your prescription insurance plan card.
  • Personal identification (valid driver’s license, state identification card or passport).
  • HMO/PPO referral forms (if required).
  • Any outside medical records, X-ray films, or prior test results not taken at KVH (if your physician has requested them).
  • A copy of your advance directive or living will.
  • All medications you are taking in their original containers.
  • Any essential personal items, such as glasses, dentures, hearing aids, walker or wheelchair.
  • Personal hygiene items you may need.
  • Clothing for your stay and discharge.
  • Reading and writing materials if you wish.

What NOT to Bring

For your safety and peace of mind, please leave the following items at home or with someone you trust:

  • Credit cards
  • Jewelry
  • Valuables
  • More than $20 in cash

Your Belongs and Safety

Keeping belongings simple helps you focus on what matters most: your care, comfort, and recovery. KVH can securely store patient valuables if needed, but this is not preferred. We encourage patients to leave valuables at home whenever possible, send valuables home after admission or leave valuables with a trusted caregiver.

Nursing staff will inventory belongings brought in with the patient at the time of admission. This helps protect your items and supports a safe care environment.

Prohibited Items in Patient Rooms

To support safety for patients, visitors, and staff, patients are not permitted to keep the following items in their rooms:

  • Prescription medications
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Illicit substances
  • Weapons

If any restricted items are found during the admission inventory and cannot be sent home, KVH will securely store them for the duration of the patient’s stay.
