Klickitat Valley Health (KVH) announced today that the KVH Hospice Program has been named the gold winner in its category in the 2025 Best of the Gorge Awards. The recognition reflects strong community support for the program’s commitment to compassionate, patient centered end-of-life care.
Serving over 30 families in 2025, the KVH Hospice team delivers care that meets and exceeds national standards for hospice organizations. As required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the program follows a comprehensive, interdisciplinary service model that includes coordinated care planning and support for each patient’s physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. The KVH team collaborates closely to develop individualized plans of care that ensure patients and families receive consistent, holistic support throughout their experience.
“This award means a great deal to our team because it comes directly from the community we serve,” said Erin Wooley, Chief Clinical Officer. “Hospice care is built on trust, compassion, and collaboration. We are honored to walk alongside patients and families during one of the most important seasons of life.”
While KVH Hospice staff take time to understand the unique needs, values, and goals of each patient and family they serve, the team is strengthened by support from the wider community. Volunteers extend the reach of hospice care by visiting patients for companionship, offering light housekeeping, or providing respite for caregivers. KVH Hospice also partners with local churches and community organizations that coordinate everything from meal trains to celebration of life services, creating a sense of care and belonging for families across the region.
The program continues to grow alongside the needs of the region, expanding outreach, support, and access for residents across the Gorge.
